Thickness Gauges

In Ultrasonic Testing (UT), very short Ultrasonic pulse-waves with centre frequencies ranging from 0.1-15 MHz and occasionally up to 50 MHz are launched into materials to detect internal flaws or to characterize materials. The technique is also commonly used to determine the thickness of the test object, for example, to monitor pipework corrosion.

Ultrasonic Testing is often performed on steel and other metals and alloys, though it can also be used on concrete, wood and composites, albiet with less resolution. It is a form of non-destructive testing used in many industries including aerospace, automotive and other transportation sectors.

TG110 DL

The Nova TG110-DL defines the standard for performance and value in Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges. It would be difficult, if not impossible to find a gauge offering the long list of STANDARD features the TG110-DL does. For about the price of the competition's current fixed velocity, entry level Gauge, NDT Systems is offering a fully loaded thickness gauge.

The TG110DL offers fully adjustable velocity for perfect calibration. Most instruments in this price range offer you only a single velocity setting. Also, This is where most others stop & the TG110DL keeps going. Other features include single and dual point calibration capability, High & Low Alarms, High Speed Scan mode and an included time encoded 'B' Scan.

The TG110-DL is housed in a custom, all aluminum enclosure with gasketed ends. The case is designed for maximum comfort while offering the user maximum grip along the sides and back surfaces. Most other gauges have smooth surfaces that once wet with couplant are difficult to hold.

The display is a full 128 x 64 pixels (1.96" x 1.25") and incorporates simple language text for all menus. This is an industry first at this price point. Try that on the usual 7 segment display unit.

Through paint capability is available as an option.

Applications -

Metals, plastics, ceramics, glass or virtually any other material which conducts ultrasound can be accurately gauged over a wide range of thickness. An optimized combination of high penetrating power and resolution make the miniature Nova TG110DL the choice for a countless variety of thickness measurement jobs, whether in the plant, field or the lab. One of the most outstanding uses for the TG110DL is to assess material thinning due to corrosion or erosion, including many types of pitting action.

NOVASCOPE 5000

Advanced Design Increases Application Range.... The 5000's specially designed pulser-receiver section covers applications ranging from those requiring delicate high resolution to those demanding hefty penetrating power and high sensitivity. The broadband dual-trace scope displays the ultrasonic A-trace and the various selectable gates needed to optimize the setup and assure the digital thickness response for a given application.

In addition to it's adjustable noise-blocking IP and IF gates, a TAC-Gate (Thickness Amplitude Compensation) allows increases in signal-to-noise ratios for ultrasonically "difficult" materials.

A host of other controls round out the features necessary to produce exceptional performance and versatility. And to extend its standard digital output interfacing ability, there's even a microprocessor based high speed binary (rep rate) and RS-232 output.

More than Just a Thickness Gage.... The NovaScope 5000 is a sophisticated thickness gaging and monitoring system integrated into a single tabletop instrument. it's advanced design is specifically intended for those complex, difficult or ultra-critical applications that require special ultrasonic capabilities. It can reliably handle contact spot gaging on difficult, complex shapes, and with the flip of a switch, the 5000 becomes a sophisticated process line instrument for non-contact automated thickness monitoring.

MULTIGAUGE 3000 - UNDERWATER GAUGE

The Multigauge 3000 Underwater Gauge is a simple, robust ultrasonic thickness gauge designed for most common underwater thickness gauging applications. The gauge is pressure tested to 500m and has the option to transfer measurements to a surface display unit with the simple addition of a replacement end cap. It has been designed and built to survive extremely harsh conditions that exist in the offshore and underwater industries worldwide. The gauge uses multiple echo which means measurements can easily be taken without the need to remove coatings and the large bright LED display ensures the display can be seen by the diver, even in poor visibility.

The gauge is equipped with IPR (Intelligent Probe Recognition) which automatically adjusts settings in the gauge for enhanced performance and AMVS (Automatic Measurement Verification System) to ensure only true measurements are displayed, even on the most heavily corroded metals.

Features -

  • Large 10mm display for poor visibility
  • Ignores coatings using multiple echo
  • Pressure tested to 500m
  • Integral battery with 55 hour runtime on one fast charge
  • No need for a spare battery
  • Easy to use
  • No fuss up-grade option to a topside repeater
  • Rugged and robust
  • Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR)
  • Automatic measurement verification (AMVS)
  • No zeroing required

The Multigauge 3000 has three options -
